Ugh, that's not nice. And here I thought I'd be safe sticking to white since it doesn't usually lead to me embarrassing myself in public in the same way red does!
Gawd, that is gross. Scream loud and long in your communication with them. Mentioning that you've already let the world know via your blog about their "quality" products might be a good idea. That should inspire them to offer worthwhile compensation for your inconvenience and discomfort, allowing you to give them good word-of-mouth by letting your blog readers know about how generous they were. I'll be interested to see how the dust settles out on this one.
It is not necessarily a bad thing. Ie could be lees (dead yeast cells) or just grape sediment. This is found in wines that are not filtered. Even good expensive wine has this, although not common in white wines.
